I’ll try to keep this short.
I lied. I did the math, and it was 30 years later.
So, it was the late 90’s, I was a teenager that was into punk but I hated how Converse’s Chuck Taylor’s looked on my feet. When you’re already taller than everyone, those paper-thin Ronald McDonald 1’s make ya look like the circus is in town, if you know what I mean. Anyway, I already had beat up Chuck Taylor’s that I used for skating, didn’t need more. There was a shop in the gayborhood that tailored to punks, and they had Grinder’s for sale. I was a good boy that year (and still 13), and while I had a summer job, I still needed a little more so my Grandma paid the difference and Christmas was saved that year.
But I still had another growth spurt. No joke I have stretch marks still from that last growth spurt. Scout’s Honor.
So, obviously, I grew out of the boots, ended up selling them to my friend Mike when he moved to South Carolina.
Fast forward to now, I’m an old ass adult, still in my punk phase, and I realized I never got another pair to replace the old ones. Thank you for still being around!
